About The Position

Under the supervision of an RN, the Monitor Technician performs telemetry monitoring. The position reports to the Director of Critical Care Unit/Stepdown and is classified as non-exempt. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Handle with Care (HWC) certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer. No license is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Handle with Care (HWC) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Perform continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identify significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervene appropriately.
• Identify and correct artifacts.
• Report abnormal assessment and telemetry findings, or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, to nursing staff.
• Test equipment to ensure it is working properly.
• Report equipment problems to the supervisor.
• Review and comply with the LifePoint Code of Conduct and all relevant Company and Division policies and procedures.
