Monitor Technician (Level I) - Telemetry - Full-Time Days
About The Position
This position may be filled as a Monitor Technician I, II, or III depending on individual qualifications, experience, and business need. Under general supervision, the Monitor Technician will monitor telemetry set up on patients. Responsibilities include checking for accurate date/time printout on rhythm strips, providing daily printings of each patient’s rhythm strip, maintaining appropriate alarm settings for each patient, assisting in troubleshooting monitor equipment, alerting staff when a patient is in crisis, performing ECG’s as needed, and maintaining supplies for the monitor area. The position also involves performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED required
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
- Good computer skills
- Good interpersonal skills that allow for developing effective working relationships with staff
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of basic arrhythmia interpretations and performing ECG tracings is helpful
Responsibilities
- Monitoring the patient once nursing staff have attached patient to the telemetry unit
- Check for accurate date/time printout on rhythm strips
- Provide daily printings of each patient’s rhythm strip
- Maintain appropriate alarm settings for each patient
- Assist in troubleshooting monitor equipment
- Alert staff when a patient is in crisis
- Perform ECG’s as needed
- Maintain supplies for monitor area
- Performs other duties as assigned
