Monitor Tech - Telemetry

St. Mary's General Hospital•Passaic, NJ

About The Position

St. Mary's General Hospital is seeking a Monitor Tech, an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. The role monitors cardiac rhythms using direct cardiac monitors and meets the communication needs of the department. The Monitor Tech transcribes physician orders when CPOE and the EMR clinical documentation system are unavailable, verifies that laboratory and radiology tests have been ordered and completed, prepares and compiles records in Med/Surg/Telemetry, orders unit supplies, and prepares and completes each patient's chart with the necessary daily forms. The Monitor Tech may assist nursing staff with indirect patient-care duties provided those activities do not distract from the primary responsibility of dysrhythmia monitoring. Direct patient care under an RN's direct supervision, within the scope of Certified Nursing Assistant duties, is permitted only for someone with active CNA certification who demonstrates annual competency in CNA duties and skills and is relieved of Monitor Technician duties while assisting the RN. This is a per-diem position on the day shift at St. Mary's General Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey. The stated reasonable compensation estimate is $21.00; the exact starting compensation is determined during applicant selection based on factors including skills, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
