About The Position

Tempus is advancing precision medicine through a proprietary platform that connects real-world evidence and delivers actionable insights to physicians. The Molecular Lab Supervisor provides daily oversight of a molecular workflow producing high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times. The workflow includes tumor genomic, germline genomic, and transcriptomic sequencing. The role is responsible for quality programs, regulatory compliance, sample quality review, workflow efficiency, and staff training and mentorship. The assigned shift is Sunday through Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in biological sciences with at least three years of experience, or bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with at least five years of experience.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient-related materials in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working in a molecular laboratory.
• Ability to work with others to plan and carry out scientific programs.
• Self-driven and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team with minimal direction.
• Strong desire to build products intended to save lives and change the course of cancer.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with next-generation sequencing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily oversight of a molecular workflow producing high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times, including tumor genomic, germline genomic, and transcriptomic sequencing.
• Establish and maintain appropriate quality control and quality assurance programs.
• Maintain CLIA and CAP compliance regarding equipment, reagents, and staff training.
• Complete quality review of all samples in the NGS workflow, from extraction through sequencing.
• Balance turnaround time while optimizing sequencing workflow costs.
• Schedule personnel training and competency assessments.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Work the assigned or offered shift.
