About The Position

The Molding Technician I role is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of molding equipment to ensure high-quality production. This position involves dismantling, cleaning, assembling, and setting up molding tools, performing mold changes, and preparing machines for production runs. The technician will troubleshoot basic molding and equipment issues, monitor key production parameters like cycle times and part quality, and support operators with process-related questions. Maintaining mold cleanliness and readiness is crucial. The role requires collaboration with production and mold maintenance teams to minimize downtime and may involve performing operator and changeover technician duties to ensure production continuity. Additionally, the technician will provide basic training to operators, interns, and trainees, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols, and apply Lean Continuous Improvement (LCI) principles. Support for general production activities and willingness to travel for training are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience (plastics preferred)
  • Technical certificate or coursework in plastics technology, manufacturing, or mechanical systems
  • Exposure to injection molding machine interfaces (e.g., Arburg, Engel, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of injection molding processes and parameters
  • Mechanical aptitude and safe tool handling
  • Ability to follow standard work and procedures
  • Basic troubleshooting and issue identification
  • Ability to manage tasks across multiple machines under supervision
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to work with metric units (e.g., millimeters, grams, degrees Celsius)

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, clean, assemble, and set up molding tools for production
  • Perform mold changes and prepare machines for production runs
  • Troubleshoot basic molding and equipment issues; escalate complex issues as needed
  • Monitor cycle times, injection intervals, and part quality
  • Support operators with process-related questions
  • Maintain mold cleanliness and readiness for production
  • Collaborate with production and mold maintenance teams to minimize downtime
  • Support production across multiple molding machines as directed, prioritizing tasks based on production needs
  • May perform or assist in end-to-end molding operator and changeover technician duties as needed to support production continuity and meet business demands
  • Provide basic training and guidance to operators, interns, and trainees
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
  • Apply Lean Continuous Improvement (LCI) principles in daily work
  • Support general production activities as needed
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training as needed
