About The Position

The Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up, installing, and optimizing injection molding processes to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves troubleshooting, process adjustments, and supporting continuous improvement in molding operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mold setting or related role in plastics manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with injection molding machines and mold change procedures.
Strong mechanical skills and ability to use basic hand tools and lifting equipment (joists, cranes).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

Ability to read blueprints and setup sheets is a plus.
Forklift and overhead crane experience (or willingness to train and obtain certification).

Responsibilities

Set up and process injection molding machines according to production schedules and specifications.
Install and remove injection molds, ensuring proper alignment, clamping, and all necessary connections (water, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical).
Perform machine start-up and shutdown procedures related to mold changes and production runs.
Establish and adjust processing parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, etc.) to achieve optimal part quality and efficiency.
Inspect molds prior to installation for damage, wear, or maintenance needs.
Troubleshoot molding process issues, including defects, machine malfunctions, and startup challenges.
Work closely with Operators, Maintenance, and Quality teams to resolve production issues and improve performance.
Maintain accurate documentation of process settings, mold changes, and production data.
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Assist with preventative maintenance and basic repair of molds and molding equipment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Maintains consistent, reliable, and predictable attendance. Because of the highly specialized nature of this role and its direct impact on plant-wide operations, physical presence and punctuality are essential to ensure uninterrupted production, safety, and workflow for all plant personnel.
Attend assigned meetings, training sessions, and safety workshops.
Assist with production troubleshooting and continuous process improvements.
Communicate with supervisors to obtain necessary materials and supplies.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication when working with team members and leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational goals.
