About The Position

The Engineering Lead – Molds is responsible for oversight of design, build, development and cost control of tooling related to the injection molding process. This position will interact with customers, injection molding department, internal mold shop, external suppliers, and sub-contractors. This is a remote role with travel to our Ontario, NY location.

Requirements

  • 3D CAD Skills. SolidWorks is preferable.
  • GD&T knowledge and ability to analyze and understand customer part prints.
  • Sufficient analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions.
  • The ability to use statistical methods to analyze process capability.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills along with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Part of a cross functional engineering team with responsibility of being technical lead for tooling.
  • Oversee, track, and coordinate tool design and build including program kickoff, engineering changes, repair jobs, and customer transfer molds.
  • Develops tool design concept with tool designers and other members of engineering and production team.
  • Lead cross-functional Design Review(s) to ensure customer and production requirements are satisfied.
  • Coordinate and establish accurate timelines and progress reports for tool build(s), sampling activities or other engineering activities.
  • Track and monitor engineering portion of mold tooling projects against quoted assumptions.
  • Liaison between internal departments including, but not limited to, Quality, Molding, Process Engineering, Tool Room, Shipping, and Scheduling.
  • Coordinates mold samples required to qualify new tools and the first article inspection.
  • Ensures mold qualification requirements and customers mold approval needs are met.
  • Communicates with customer and is the key interface between ADDMAN and customer.
  • Participates, as requested, in Customer meetings pertaining to tooling programs.
  • Coordinates both corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
  • Engineering support of day-to-day production and operations needs
  • Must be able to use CAD to review tool designs. SolidWorks is preferable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
