About The Position

The Mold Setter is responsible for the timely and accurate installation, removal, and configuration of molds and auxiliary equipment. The role supports efficient production-line transitions and sets machines to specific process parameters to meet quality standards. It is responsible for achieving first-piece success through precise mechanical setup and initial troubleshooting.

Requirements

2–5 years of experience in a plastic molding environment, specifically in mold setting or processing.
Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
Basic knowledge of plastic resin behavior and drying requirements.

Responsibilities

Install and remove molds from presses ranging from 300 to 2,400 tons, securing them with clamps, bolts, or magnetic platens.
Connect and verify water lines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic lines, and electrical connections, including limit switches and hot runner cables.
Set up and synchronize thermolators, dryers, granulators, conveyors, and robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT).
Load process parameters into machine controllers based on setup sheets, purge barrels, and perform initial cycles to ensure smooth operation.
Coordinate with the Quality Department to verify that first parts meet dimensional and aesthetic specifications before handing the machine over to an Operator.
Inspect molds for damage or wear during changeovers, perform basic at-press maintenance such as cleaning and greasing, and ensure safety gates and emergency stops function.
Maintain the mold storage area and return tools and components to their proper locations with current status tags.
Follow complex setup sheets and recipe parameters without deviation.
