About The Position

Under the instructions of the Shift Supervisor and/or production schedule, installs and removes a variety of molds on plastic injection molding machines. Adjusts, connects, and coordinates auxiliary equipment to produce plastic parts, following established procedures and parameters. Constantly coordinates with the mold shop, Process Monitor, and Supervisor. Every day at Hubbell is different and you will contribute in many ways. On any given day, you would make a difference by: Using the personal protective equipment required by Occupational Safety and a variety of manual and automatic equipment and tools, removes and installs molds on molding machines so that they produce plastic parts according to quality standards. Is responsible for using, protecting, and creating: Setup Sheets on which he/she documents parameter adjustments, if any were made. Daily Setup Report Sheet. Prepares all necessary auxiliary equipment for operation, such as: controllers, part dryers, separators, etc. Makes recommendations to improve processes. Generates Job Orders requesting maintenance and/or repair services for molds, machines, and/or auxiliary equipment when necessary. Ensures that transportation equipment is used safely for his/her safety, that of his/her coworkers, and the mold. When the machine being qualified is ready for manufacturing, notifies the III Associate responsible for operating it. Assists Mechanics in repairing molding equipment, as instructed by the Supervisor. Must follow SMED principles and train in all Paulson modules within a minimum of twelve months (1 year). Ensures compliance with and execution of the established Policies, Procedures, and Rules for Occupational Safety, Quality, Environmental, Physical Plant Safety, Finance, and others. Performs other related tasks as instructed by the Supervisor or a representative of the business unit.

Requirements

  • Completed High School from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience using plastic injection molding machines or automated machines.
  • Basic reading and comprehension of the English language.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical skills in hydraulics, electrical, and electronics related to the plastic molding process.
  • Basic knowledge in reading blueprints and computerized panels.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the use of pallet jacks, forklifts, and other related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes required personal protective equipment and a variety of manual and automatic equipment and tools to remove and install molds on molding machines to produce plastic parts according to quality standards.
  • Documents parameter adjustments on Setup Sheets and completes the Daily Setup Report Sheet.
  • Prepares auxiliary equipment such as controllers, dryers, and separators for operation.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvements.
  • Generates Job Orders for maintenance and/or repair of molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ensures safe use of transportation equipment.
  • Notifies the responsible Associate III when a machine being qualified is ready for manufacturing.
  • Assists Mechanics with repairs of molding equipment as instructed by the Supervisor.
  • Follows SMED principles and trains in all Paulson modules within a minimum of twelve months.
