About The Position

EJ has an immediate opening for a 3rd shift Pattern Set-Up Apprentice. This is a two (2) year program in which the person will learn how to safely set-up and/or repair patterns and core boxes. EJ is a leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of access solutions for water, sewer, drainage, telecommunications, and utility networks. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Must be able to drive a fork-lift as the job involves large amounts of forklift driving and using hoists to lift castings for a majority of the workday.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • A mathematical placement test will be required.
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and pass necessary aptitude testing.
  • Contribute a weekly payroll deduction towards the cost of the courses required in the apprentice program.
  • Learn how to set-up and/or repair patterns and core boxes.
  • Use power and/or hand tools per work instruction database and associated information systems.
  • Use computer to obtain and/or input information.
  • May drive industrial equipment to move materials if needed.
  • Promote the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company, including adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.
