About The Position

The Mold Set-up Technician sets up and/or tends to molds for press machines based on job travelers and production needs. The role performs sample runs before releasing work to a press operator, inspects and cleans molds before and after production runs, and pulls materials needed for each job. The technician performs operations for press tooling and supporting equipment, installs and secures molds and other work pieces, conducts tests, and verifies part quality. The role also supports continual improvement and works with Engineering and Maintenance to improve tooling and equipment uptime.

Requirements

Understand and communicate details logically and accurately in English.
Complete counting and basic mathematical calculations.
Record information in writing and enter data accurately into a computer.

Responsibilities

Perform operations and functions for press tooling and supporting equipment.
Read job travelers to determine molding specifications and tooling instructions.
Pull required molds from storage.
Inspect molds for defects and cleanliness.
Mount, install, and align molds or other work pieces on a press manually or using a hoist.
Secure molds and other work pieces using basic hand or power tools.
Install new molds and other work pieces during the day as needed according to the production schedule.
Conduct tests, inspect mold security, and verify part quality.
Drive continual improvement of processes and product quality.
Work with Engineering and Maintenance to improve tooling and equipment uptime.
Train others as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Pull materials needed for each job.
