About The Position

The Mold Maker Journeyman will be responsible for performing new mold work, work on rough or semi-finished castings which are made into completed parts and make corrections or changes on unused mold equipment. The Mold Maker Journeyman will perform lathe work and make various mold components from semi-finished castings, grind own tools, and perform bench work operations including blending, shaping, and matching cavities. They will also perform mill work, grind cutting tools, and install them. This role requires experience in machine lathe and mill, reading blueprints, bench repair and welding, using precision measuring devices, and prior industrial manufacturing experience.

Requirements

Machine lathe and mill experience
Experience reading blueprints and drawings
Experience with bench repair and welding
Ability to use all precision measuring devices
Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
High School Diploma or GED
Journeyman Mold Maker Card or State of Virginia Machinist Journeyman Card required
Basic computer literacy (Word, email, data entry)

Nice To Haves

Automatic CNC mill and lathe knowledge is desirable
CNC certification and/or CNC experience is desirable

Responsibilities

Perform lathe work and make molds, mold holders, mold bushings, round bottom plates, blanks, baffle holders, baffle inserts, guide rings, guide ring inserts, blow head inserts, blow head holders, and guide ring holders from semi-finished castings.
Grind own tools.
Perform bench work operations including blending, shaping, and matching cavities, making capacity corrections, necessary cavity relief and pantograph work where standard numerals and monograms are used.
Perform mill work consisting of making molds, blanks, baffles, bottoms, funnels and odd-shaped cavities – or cavities involving flutes, rib decorations, or matches where cavity cast rack displacement must be held to close tolerances.
Grind tapered, fly cutter arch, and other cutting tools, installing them, and making necessary mill adjustments.
