About The Position

Immanuel Christian Secondary School is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic professional educators to join their team as a Modern Languages and Learning Supports Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Modern Languages (French and/or Spanish) to students from grade 6 to 12, and also supporting students in a Learning Support Teacher role. This is a 1.00 FTE probationary position with an expected start date of August 25, 2026. The school offers a distinctively Christian program that integrates faith, learning, and service into the curriculum, challenging students to play an active role in God's story, and follows the Alberta curriculum. The school division is committed to learning, respect, leadership, well-being, and inclusion, providing culturally authentic learning opportunities and fostering leadership and community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of effective learning support structures.
  • Competence in working with students with exceptionalities.
  • Educational background and experience in teaching a French and/or Spanish program.
  • Understanding of and experience in Christian Education.
  • Ability to integrate the school's Christian mission and vision within the subject materials and instruction.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Submit a philosophy of Christian Education as part of their application.
  • Provide one reference for their current pastor.
  • Provide a police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, with no charges or convictions.
  • Provide a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Provide proof of photo identification.
  • Provide documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Modern Languages (French and/or Spanish) to students from grade 6 to 12.
  • Support students in a Learning Support Teacher role.
  • Integrate faith, learning, and service into the entire curriculum and program.
  • Challenge students to actively play their role in God's story.
  • Follow the Alberta curriculum and meet or exceed all Alberta Education requirements.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of diverse learning contexts and the variables that influence student success, including cultural, social, and individual factors.
  • Apply evidence-based pedagogical approaches that reflect current best practices in elementary education.
  • Utilize proficiency in curriculum planning, formative and summative assessment strategies, and differentiated instructional practices that meet diverse learning needs.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Integrate technology purposefully and effectively to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Embody the qualities of a reflective professional, actively engaging in ongoing professional learning aligned with Alberta's Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).
  • Demonstrate commitment to building and maintaining respectful, professional relationships within the school community.
  • Value and actively participate in collaborative practice and teamwork with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Contribute actively to school culture, student activities, and extracurricular programs while developing effective partnerships within the school and broader community.
