About The Position

Immanuel Christian Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Fine Arts and Humanities Teacher for grades 6-12. This full-time, probationary position involves teaching Art and Humanities courses, including English, Social Studies, and Bible-Christian Worldview classes. The successful candidate will integrate faith, learning, and service into the curriculum, aligning with the school's distinctively Christian program and Alberta Education requirements. The school operates in partnership with the Society for Christian Education in Southern Alberta and Lethbridge School Division, emphasizing a Christ-centered approach to education.

Requirements

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Submit a philosophy of Christian Education as part of the application.
  • Provide one reference for their current pastor.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of diverse learning contexts and factors influencing student success.
  • Possess deep knowledge of subject disciplines and apply evidence-based pedagogical approaches.
  • Show proficiency in curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and differentiated instruction.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies.
  • Integrate technology purposefully and effectively.
  • Embody the qualities of a reflective professional.
  • Demonstrate commitment to building and maintaining respectful, professional relationships.
  • Value and actively participate in collaborative practice and teamwork.
  • Contribute actively to school culture, student activities, and extracurricular programs.

  • Be enthusiastic, flexible, and an energetic team player.
  • Have strong instructional understanding of foundational literacy and the craft of writing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Art, English, Social Studies, and Bible-Christian Worldview courses to students in grades 6-12.
  • Integrate faith, learning, and service into the curriculum and instruction.
  • Support students in learning and foster their role in God's story.
  • Plan and implement curriculum, including formative and summative assessments.
  • Utilize differentiated instructional practices to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Integrate technology purposefully to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with Alberta's Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).
  • Build and maintain respectful, professional relationships within the school community.
