About The Position

Leidos Gibbs & Cox is seeking a Junior Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our Systems Engineering Integration Team in support of a next-generation battleship program. This is an exciting opportunity to work on advanced naval platforms, collaborate with experienced engineers and architects, and contribute to the future of maritime defense technology. The role involves applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support the U.S. Navy Guided Missile Battleship (BBG(X)) program. The company, Leidos Gibbs & Cox, is the largest independent naval architecture and marine engineering firm in the United States, with a history dating back to 1929. They deliver innovative solutions across the full lifecycle of marine design, construction, and sustainment for both U.S. and international military and commercial clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and less than 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience creating models in Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, including system specification, analysis, design, verification, and validation
  • Proficiency with SysML
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision and collaboratively within project teams
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Teamwork Cloud and federated models
  • Experience supporting defense or complex systems development programs (Navy program experience preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize shipbuilding artifacts and design information from stakeholders related to design decisions
  • Create, maintain, and manage Cameo Systems Modeler models
  • Develop presentation materials to communicate model status, metrics, and program updates
  • Collaborate with MBSE architects, systems engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Support systems engineering activities throughout the design and integration lifecycle
