Mobility Technician II (1.0 FTE Day)
About The Position
Our mobility techs assist patients in mobility and positioning, activities of daily living, and basic care within critical, medical-surgical, or other acute care hospital units. This role is critical to continue, improve and maintain patient satisfaction results and functional outcomes. Is flexible per needs of the patient and takes direction from the nursing and therapy staff. In this role you will also lead hospital mobility initiatives through the attendance rounds to discuss mobility levels/scores with other disciplines as well as participating in the training of new technicians.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- Associate Degree Exercise/Health Related Field Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association Required
- Up to 20% travel

- Bachelor's Degree Exercise/Health Related Field Preferred
- 1 year Acute Care/Hospital/Patient Care/Rehabilitation Preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide mobility opportunities for the various appropriate patients, including bed mobility, upright sitting, transfers, wheelchair use and ambulation using the MOVE protocol following nursing assessment and instruction.
- Report and document routine care and any changes and unusual incidents observed in condition or behavior of patients to team and to unit staff.
- Complies with and has a working knowledge of mobility, movement, and positioning precautions.
- Provides clear and effective patient education about the importance of mobility, vertical positioning progressing from in to out of bed, and fall prevention. Methods of education include video, written, pictorial, demonstration, and verbal.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by straightening rooms and equipment, ensuring patient belongings are in reach, utilizing safety alarms and reporting any malfunctioning devices or equipment.
- Assist nursing leadership with unit mobility projects, tracking mobility with mobility leadership and unit dashboards.
- Collaborate with patient and mobility team for continued MOVE progression.
- Attend rounds to discuss mobility levels/scores with other disciplines.
- Lead training for new techs and help with improvements in training processes.
- Takes initiative to complete work and meets productivity standards.
- Assisting with mobility tech daily patient scheduling.
