You will be part of a dynamic, passionate team of mentors working directly with our participants who have recently left EMPath’s emergency shelter programs. You will be supporting their journey to self-sufficiency and remaining stably housed. The Stabilization Mentor is a critical role in EMPath’s Mobility Mentoring model, engaging in goal setting and within our framework of maintaining permanent housing, employment, and savings within a two-year horizon. Through this work you become a Mobility Mentor®.

Requirements

  • Passion for and experience in working with a diverse population, including homeless and formerly homeless, immigrants, and BIPOC families.
  • Proven skill in collaborating with families to develop goals and providing clear feedback.
  • Understanding of housing subsidy programs, as well as Landlord/Tenant rights.
  • Deep understanding and respect for data. We are a data driven organization.
  • Tech savvy, computer literate
  • Be an effective communicator
  • Strong organizational, mediation, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to meet our participants where they need you; online or in-person.
  • Access to reliable transportation is required
  • Flexibility and resilience

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred.
  • 3 plus years’ experience in human and/or social services.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human and/or social services.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting families with all aspects of managing their tenancy, collaborating with the housing team and landlords
  • Providing advocacy, consumer education, and crisis management when necessary to prevent housing disruption.
  • Helping families establish, strengthen, and maintain residential stability and connections to their neighborhood, through schools, employment services, and medical providers.
