About The Position

This position is for a Mobility Aid on the Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU). The SOTU is a 36-bed med-surg unit that is Nebraska’s only solid organ transplant unit. It provides medical, surgical, telemetry, and progressive care to adult pre- and post-liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal, and islet cell transplant patients. The unit also houses the Intestinal Rehab Program, which is the busiest intestinal transplant program in the U.S. Staff care for patients from all over the world. The Mobility Aid performs basic patient care functions that assist with individualized patient mobility activities as directed by licensed nurse, physical therapist, and/or occupational therapist personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Completion of certified nursing assistant program or restorative program or experience in direct patient care required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of use of patient care equipment/supplies preferred.
  • Appropriate knowledge of good body mechanics preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and interact with patients and families of all age groups preferred.
  • Ability to deal with difficult or challenging customer interactions and escalate to management as appropriate preferred.
