About The Position

Cox Fleet is seeking individuals interested in a career as a Trailer Technician through their FleeTec Academy program. This paid educational program provides comprehensive training in trailer maintenance and repair, leading to a full-time position as a Mobile Trailer Mechanic. The program covers the fundamentals of trailer repair, offers hands-on training with experienced technicians, and provides necessary tools and a toolbox upon completion. Mobile Technicians utilize state-of-the-art vehicles to perform preventative maintenance and general repairs at customer locations, ensuring fleet efficiency without requiring customers to bring vehicles to a shop. The role emphasizes career growth and provides a clear path for raises and advancement.

Requirements

  • Desire to start a career as a Trailer Technician and become a Mobile Mechanic.
  • Willingness and ability to study hard.
  • Dedication to being away from home for five weeks for initial training.
  • Maturity to focus on the task at hand.
  • Technical aptitude and a passion for fixing vehicles.
  • Ability to operate an iPad.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.
  • Must possess a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration, or be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • Must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in a five-week full-time paid training program at the Academy Campus.
  • Undergo hands-on training with a Lead Technician in your market after completing the initial classroom phase.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs on trailers at customer locations using a company-provided vehicle.
  • Operate an iPad for work-related tasks.
  • Adhere to regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • Participate in periodic classroom study for continued skill development throughout the multi-year program.
