The Mobile Maintenance Technician will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and light-to-moderate repairs on commercial trucks and trailers at customer locations. This role is crucial for maximizing fleet uptime by providing on-site maintenance services, which helps reduce downtime, lower transportation costs, and keep customer fleets operational.

Requirements

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on commercial trucks and trailers preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use diagnostic software and service documentation systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to safely operate service tools, testing equipment, and mobile maintenance vehicle systems.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred.
  • Welding, refrigeration, or trailer maintenance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance services on customer equipment at their location, including oil changes, lubrication, cooling system service, and general inspections.
  • Complete scheduled PM services and maintenance checks on-site in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
  • Inspect and service air and power supply systems, trailer connections, lights, signals, belts, filters, wiper blades, bulbs, tires, and related components.
  • Use laptop-based diagnostic equipment and other testing tools to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting in the field.
  • Conduct trailer connection testing, light and signal inspections, tire pressure checks, and alignment-related evaluations.
  • Support refrigeration unit service and maintenance when applicable.
  • Operate welding equipment safely as needed for approved repairs.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, inspection records, and repair orders.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding service findings, recommended repairs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized mobile service unit, including parts inventory, tools, and supplies.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and company procedures while working at customer locations and in the field.
