Mobile Field Service Technician - Humphrey
About The Position
Platte Valley Equipment is a full-service John Deere dealer serving Eastern Nebraska and Sioux City, Iowa. The Mobile Field Service Technician independently performs in-field equipment diagnostics and repairs by operating a mobile service vehicle and traveling to customer locations. The role requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and excellent communication skills to complete work efficiently and explain repairs to customers. As an in-field representative of the dealership, the technician provides customer service and quality service solutions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience performing service repairs.
- Experience performing repairs and maintenance with special tools and equipment and following Technical Manual procedures on machines within the technician’s specialty.
- Proficiency with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Proficiency with basic computer functions.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools.
- Associate’s degree.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on equipment and technology in the field.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of parts stocked on the service vehicle.
- Identify and communicate solutions for customer service opportunities within the assigned area.
- Account for billable time and assigned work orders.
- Document diagnostics and repairs thoroughly on work orders and submit information promptly.
- Participate in service training programs to develop skills and knowledge.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment needed for job responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Follow safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments.
- Stay current on John Deere and competitive products.
