About The Position

Tether is seeking a Mobile Engineer to develop and maintain Keet Mobile, its peer-to-peer chat and calling app for iOS and Android. The app is built with React Native and Expo, with its peer-to-peer core running on-device in a Bare worklet. The role combines React Native UI development with integration of the app’s peer-to-peer core APIs, and involves owning features from implementation through testing and release quality.

Requirements

• Significant experience with React Native.
• Experience with Redux for state management and Redux-Saga.
• High proficiency in JavaScript and ES6+.
• Experience with WebSockets and RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with a remote team.
• Interest in modernizing and optimizing mobile or web applications.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of native languages such as Swift or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with native build tools such as Xcode or Android Studio.
• Experience building with peer-to-peer frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Build and polish features for chat, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup.
• Integrate native platform capabilities, including push notifications, camera, biometrics, and background tasks, on iOS and Android.
• Profile and optimize performance on real devices, including startup time, long chats, media handling, battery use, and network use.
• Write unit and end-to-end tests and help maintain stable releases through CI and crash reporting.
• Collaborate with the core peer-to-peer, design, and product teams.
• Review code and uphold a high standard of quality.
