Mobile Diesel Mechanic (Night Shift)
About The Position
Prestige Fleet Services is seeking a Mobile Diesel Mechanic to perform on-site maintenance and repairs for Class 6–8 trucks and trailers. The role works with a mechanically skilled team and uses company technology to process work orders. Technicians perform repairs at customer locations and help keep fleets operating through routine maintenance, inspections, and component repairs. The position involves outdoor work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity. Candidates must be able to complete the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. First- and second-shift opportunities are available; this posting is for the night shift.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
- At least 2 years of truck or trailer maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work extended or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, when needed.
- Communication skills.
- Self-motivation and strong organization and planning skills.
- Ability to use a computer or tablet to process work orders, enter labor hours, and update work-order statuses.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must possess proper tools.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 5 years of diesel and trailer repair experience is preferred.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Certifications.
- Welding experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and inspections on Class 6–8 trucks and trailers, including brakes, diagnostics, A/C, electrical systems, engine components, exhaust and after-treatment systems, lift-gates, and tires.
- Schedule and oversee maintenance procedures, including preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
- Repair or replace vehicle and trailer components.
- Open and close repair orders using a company-issued device.
- Obtain parts from local vendors and manage inventory on the service truck.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and promptly.
