Mobile Diesel Mechanic (Night Shift)
About The Position
Prestige Fleet Services is hiring a mobile diesel mechanic to perform truck and trailer maintenance and repairs at customer locations. The role works with Class 6–8 vehicles and uses company technology to process repair orders, leaving more time for hands-on work. Technicians support fleet reliability through quality repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance. The position works outdoors and may involve extreme heat, cold, or humidity. First and second shifts are available; the posting title specifies night shift. Candidates must be able to complete the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
- At least 2 years of truck and trailer maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Valid driver's license.
- Communication skills.
- Self-motivation and strong organization and planning skills.
- Ability to use a computer or tablet to process work orders, enter labor hours, and update work-order statuses.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must possess proper tools.
- Ability to work extended or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, when needed.
- Ability to complete the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 5 years of diesel and trailer repair experience preferred.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Certifications.
- Welding experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and inspections on Class 6–8 trucks and trailers, including brakes, diagnostics, A/C, electrical systems, engine components, exhaust and after-treatment systems, lift-gates, and tires.
- Schedule and oversee maintenance procedures, including preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
- Repair or replace vehicle and trailer components.
- Open and close repair orders on a company-issued device.
- Obtain parts from local vendors and manage inventory on the service truck.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and promptly.
