About The Position

The Mobile Crisis Therapist II provides rapid, community-based crisis assessment, intervention, and short-term stabilization for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies. Services are delivered where the crisis occurs including homes, schools, shelters, and other community locations, with telehealth used when appropriate. The role prioritizes diversion from jail, emergency departments, and psychiatric hospitalization when clinically appropriate and consistent with least restrictive care. This position functions as part of a mobile crisis team and collaborates closely with the broader crisis continuum to ensure timely assessment, coordinated clinical recommendations, and access to appropriate services. Services may include brief individual, family, or group interventions and collaborative treatment planning as clinically appropriate during crisis stabilization and follow up. All services are delivered using trauma informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered practices with a focus on safety, dignity, and least restrictive care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited program
  • Active, unrestricted independent licensure in the state as an LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct clinical and risk assessments and provide appropriate crisis intervention services
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention principles, suicide risk assessment, and trauma informed care
  • Strong verbal communication, written documentation, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to function independently in high acuity and rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to provide clinical guidance and support to team members as needed
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer for clinical documentation
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a variable service environments as required
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and active insurance if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced mobile behavioral health crisis services including de-escalation, safety planning, stabilization, and functional support to reduce unnecessary emergency department visits, hospitalization, and legal involvement
  • Conduct comprehensive crisis, diagnostic, and risk assessments in the community and determine appropriate levels of care, including for individuals with OUD and co-occurring disorders
  • Provide brief individual, family, or group therapeutic interventions and independently develop crisis care plans or initial treatment plans as clinically appropriate
  • Provide clinical consultation, guidance, and support to Mobile Crisis Therapist I, peer support staff, and other team members as needed
  • Collaborate with the Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist and other team members to ensure coordinated care planning and service delivery
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, DCBS, hospitals, jails, courts, and community organizations to resolve crises and facilitate access to appropriate resources
  • Provide consultation, education, and collaborative problem solving with community partners related to crisis response and behavioral health care
  • Develop individualized crisis plans that focus on least restrictive interventions and promote recovery-oriented care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality documentation of all client contacts, assessments, interventions, and referrals in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, program development, and advanced training related to crisis intervention and evidence-based practices
  • Provide clinical leadership during complex or high-risk cases and serve as a resource for the crisis team
  • Work alternate schedules and participate in on call coverage as needed to meet 24/7 program needs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of independent licensure and training
