About The Position

This position is for a Clinician II/Therapist - Mobile Crisis Team Leader Crisis Center Relief (PRN) in Tuscaloosa, AL. The role requires a strong commitment to the Mobile Crisis Team mission and philosophy, with the ability to work effectively with clients facing challenges in mental health, substance use, and their need for ongoing services, resources, and supports. This includes assessing social determinants of health (SDOH) and linking clients to community resources. The position demands strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the capacity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and local entities such as law enforcement, emergency medical services, hospitals, and other community agencies. A thorough understanding of mental health and substance use disorder diagnoses, symptoms, and treatments, as well as knowledge of psychotropic medications, is essential. Training in Narcan administration is required. The role also necessitates familiarity with various community agency services and referral processes, adherence to ADMH and Alabama Medicaid standards, and excellent professional communication skills. The ability to interact respectfully and sensitively with clients and their families, and to work cooperatively with other program staff, is crucial. Cultural diversity competence and proficient computer skills are also required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in behavioral sciences required.
  • At least 2 years experience in a community mental health setting preferred.
  • Current Alabama driver's license and good driving record as defined by Indian Rivers' policy.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Must possess a strong commitment to the Mobile Crisis Team mission and philosophy.
  • Must be able to work well with clients with multiple needs including mental health, substance use, and their needs for ongoing services, resources, and supports.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all assigned duties are implemented according to IRBH and ADMH policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all safety, fire prevention, and health measures are followed while on duty.
  • Travel with team members to various locations in the community to provide crisis intervention services, including clients' homes and various locations throughout the community.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, staff of the crisis center, and other collaborative partners from both IRBH and other community agencies.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships, observing and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Assist clients through crisis situations and arrange for the provision of additional assistance from other professionals/personal care givers as indicated by the needs of the client and the situation.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention services to clients at their present location.
  • Provide assessment and referral to necessary and appropriate referral sources.
  • Provide documentation to the client's chart as indicated within 2 business days of providing services.
  • Transport clients in a company vehicle when indicated, safe and appropriate, and approved by the supervisor, ensuring that company vehicle is operated in a safe manner and that appropriate staff are notified if there is an accident or if the vehicle is in need of service.
  • Attend staffing and team meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure safety of clients, preserving basic human and legal rights.
  • Complete training and demonstrate competency in crisis intervention techniques, cultural diversity, and trauma-informed care.
  • Demonstrate appropriate and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward work and the completion of work assignments.
  • Address any client concerns to the Supervisor or Program Manager/Program Director.
  • Maintain communication and awareness of current Organization events by reading memos, emails, bulletin boards, and communication logs and respond in a timely manner.
  • Support Organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA and Security Programs by ensuring job tasks are performed in a legal and ethical manner, assessing the work area for non-compliance and notifying the supervisor, manager, Executive Director or designee as appropriate, and maintaining training requirements and understanding that training is a required condition of employment.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of all client and Organization related activities by not divulging information outside the facility, discussing information within the facility on a need-to-know basis, acknowledging policy at the point of hire by signing a confidentiality statement, and by referring media and general inquiries to the Executive Director.
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality policy by allowing adequate time to arrive, clock-in and assume responsibilities at designated time, adhering to meal and break times and making timely requests for annual leave and reporting the need for sick leave in accordance with policy.
  • Comply with all standards related to safety and health by maintaining current TB Test/Screening, CPR/First Aid, CPI, and by reporting infections and on-the-job injuries in accordance with policy.
  • Represent the Organization in an accurate and professional manner.
  • Provide accurate documentation of billable time and service reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and support open communication with your assigned supervisor.
  • Practice efficient time management skills.
  • Devote 40 hours per week to the completion of duties as outlined in the job description. More than 40 hours of work per week may be required at times to meet job responsibilities and deadlines.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, Crisis Center Director, or Executive Director.
