About The Position

As a Mobile Automation Testing Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within Consumer and Community Bank–Business Banking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team designing and delivering trusted, secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You carry out critical technology solutions across technical areas and business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. The role focuses on quality engineering for iOS and Android mobile applications. You plan and design tests, perform manual and automated testing, triage defects, and report results. You create and maintain test cases, charters, and regression suites linked to requirements and acceptance criteria; develop automated unit, integration, and UI tests; and contribute to CI pipelines. You troubleshoot issues using logs and crash reports, test dependencies across services and environments, and work with agile teammates to improve test coverage and reliability. You also use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistance and automation capabilities in the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity. AI-generated outputs must be validated through peer review, automated testing, secure coding practices, and responsible handling of sensitive data.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
  • Strong Quality Engineering or QA experience, including hands-on iOS and Android mobile application testing and both manual functional, regression, and exploratory testing and automated testing.
  • Working proficiency with Android Studio and Xcode to build and run apps, inspect logs, debug, and work with simulators or emulators.
  • Experience with mobile automation frameworks or tools such as Appium, Espresso, UIAutomator, XCUITest, or XCTest; equivalent frameworks are acceptable.
  • Ability to design test strategies across UI, API/service, and integration layers and choose automation levels based on stability and return on investment.
  • Experience testing modern mobile application architectures and patterns, such as MVC or MVVM, and understanding of their impact on testability.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience integrating automated tests into pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Bitrise, or similar.
  • Proficiency with Git source control and collaboration workflows, including pull request reviews and branching strategies.
  • Understanding of mobile security and authentication fundamentals such as OAuth2/OIDC/PKCE, biometrics, and secure storage, sufficient to validate expected behavior and identify risks.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use logs, device signals, and test results to diagnose and clearly communicate issues.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation, and the ability to evaluate, validate, and refine generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective use.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or contributing to a mobile test automation framework, including page or screen object models, test data strategy, reporting, and flake reduction.
  • Experience validating mobile accessibility and knowledge of WCAG and Apple and Android accessibility expectations.
  • Experience with design systems and UI component libraries, including validation of consistency, theming, and white-labeling.
  • Experience with API testing tools and practices, such as Postman, contract testing, or service virtualization, in support of mobile testing.

Responsibilities

  • Execute quality engineering work for iOS and Android applications, including test planning, test design, manual testing, test automation, defect triage, and test reporting.
  • Create and maintain test cases, test charters, and regression suites with traceability to requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and UI tests, and contribute to CI pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues by reproducing defects, analyzing logs and crash reports, and communicating root-cause hypotheses to engineering partners.
  • Test upstream and downstream services, APIs, data dependencies, and environment impacts, using mocking or stubbing where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with an agile team to shift testing left, improve the Definition of Done, and enhance test coverage and reliability.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI coding-assistance tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Share learnings and reusable AI-assisted development patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Apply Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to improve the value realized by automation.
