About The Position
KSNB Local4 is building the future of local storytelling and is seeking an agile, digital-first journalist to command both the field and the screen. This role involves not just reporting packages but also contributing to a multi-platform newsroom, stepping onto the OTT streaming desk for live coverage, breaking news, and audience engagement across various platforms. The position blends aggressive reporting with cutting-edge digital streaming and broadcast anchoring.
Requirements
- Multi-platform screen presence, comfortable anchoring live on a streaming desk, traditional anchor set, or live from the field.
- College degree in journalism or equivalent professional experience with proven newsroom experience in shooting, writing, and editing on deadline.
- Intuitive understanding of what engages digital audiences on OTT channels, connected TVs, and social video platforms.
- Hands-on operational experience with camera gear, non-linear editing (Edius), and newsroom production software (ENPS).
- Ability to go live during breaking news, synthesize fast-moving facts, and communicate with clarity and calm.
- Collaborative attitude, strong ethics, and genuine curiosity about Central Nebraska.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Flexibility required for the daily rhythm of breaking news.
Responsibilities
- Anchor on the OTT streaming desk, assisting with live digital desk streaming newscasts, breaking news cut-ins, and extended deep-dive coverage for OTT platforms and connected TV apps.
- Serve as a versatile fill-in anchor for scheduled linear newscasts, writing conversational copy and collaborating with producers.
- Own enterprise reporting, including pitching, shooting, writing, and editing local stories for Central Nebraska with a focus on truth, community context, and strong visuals.
- Lead digital-first publishing by pushing breaking updates, live streams, and custom video content to mobile, web, and social feeds.
- Operate ENG gear and edit under tight deadlines using industry workflows like ENPS and Edius.
- Build trusted sources across Hastings and surrounding towns, representing Local4 at community events, and engaging with viewers.
