About The Position

This role involves operating a plant, performing clean-up duties, and operating various heavy machinery including a loader, shuttlewagon, haul truck, and skid steer. The position also includes performing general preventative maintenance activities such as lubrication and inspections. The operator is responsible for successfully managing plant operations, sampling product at various stages, and managing the load-out facility to ensure accurate and timely loading of railcars and trucks. A key aspect of the role is active safety engagement, including conducting safety stand-downs, SLAMs, and informal shift meetings. The operator must also maintain exceptional housekeeping throughout the plant and surrounding areas, and ensure all required paperwork, such as LOTOTO sheets and inspection forms, is completed accurately. Depending on prior experience and qualifications, the operator may also be required to fill in for other roles like kiln operator or assistant. The operator will be task-trained on specific equipment including shuttlewagons, Hitachi and CAT haul trucks, CAT loaders (980M, 980K, 972M), and a CAT skid steer.

  • Safely fill in as needed during vacation, absences, and increased production demands
  • Safely replace or assist other workers as needed
  • Safely perform other tasks as assigned by supervision or designated lead person
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to work 12-hour swing shift (Dupont schedule)

Responsibilities

  • Operating the plant

  • Performing general preventative maintenance activities (lubrication, inspection, etc.)
  • Successfully managing plant operation and sampling
  • Successfully managing the load out facility
  • Driving active safety engagement among fellow employees through formal safety stand-downs, SLAMs, and informal shift meetings
  • Performing pre-shift inspections as required by MSHA and DMME
  • Demonstrating proficient working knowledge of the plant and its operational needs
  • Operating independently with minimal supervision
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing with co-workers
  • Sampling product at various stages of the process
  • Loading railcars/trucks accurately and according to schedule
  • Maintaining exceptional housekeeping throughout the plant (including outside area, control room, lab, etc.)
  • Ensuring work areas are kept clean and organized
  • Ensuring paperwork is in order (including LOTOTO sheets, interlock bypass forms, pre-shift inspection forms, mobile and stationary inspection forms, etc.)
  • Performing routine or one-off assignments as requested by Supervisor, Kiln Operator, Process Engineer, or Process Manager
  • Filling in as a kiln operator, assistant, or lime loader occasionally, depending on prior work history and qualifications
  • Being task-trained on specific equipment including shuttlewagons, haul trucks, loaders, and skid steers
