About The Position

The MLS Tech 1 is responsible for operating the plant, performing clean-up duties, operating various heavy equipment including a loader, shuttlewagon, haul truck, and skid steer. This role also involves performing general preventative maintenance activities such as lubrication and inspections. The operator will successfully manage plant operation and sampling, as well as the load-out facility, ensuring accurate and timely loading of railcars and trucks. A key aspect of this role is driving active safety engagement among fellow employees through formal and informal safety meetings and performing required pre-shift inspections. The operator must demonstrate a proficient working knowledge of the plant, understand its operational intricacies for effective troubleshooting, and be able to operate independently. Effective verbal and written communication with co-workers is essential. The role also requires maintaining exceptional housekeeping throughout the plant and ensuring all paperwork is in order. Depending on prior experience, the operator may be required to fill in for other roles such as kiln operator or lime loader.

Valid Driver's License
Able to work 12-hour swing shift (Dupont schedule)

Responsibilities

Operate the plant
Perform clean up duties
Operate a loader, shuttlewagon, haul truck, and skid steer
Perform general preventative maintenance activities (lubrication, inspection, etc.)
Successfully manage plant operation and sampling
Successfully manage the load out facility
Drive active safety engagement among fellow employees through formal safety stand-downs, SLAMs, and informal shift meetings
Perform pre-shift inspections as required by MSHA and DMME
Troubleshoot plant operational issues
Operate independently with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with co-workers
Maintain exceptional housekeeping throughout the plant (including outside area, control room, lab, etc.)
Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized
Ensure paperwork is in order (including LOTOTO sheets, interlock bypass forms, pre-shift inspection forms, mobile and stationary inspection forms, etc.)
Perform routine or one-off assignments as requested by Supervisor, Kiln Operator, Process Engineer, or Process Manager
Fill in occasionally as a kiln operator, assistant, lime loader, etc., depending on prior work history and qualifications
Be task-trained on the following equipment: Shuttlewagon (both), Hitachi haul truck, CAT 777 haul truck, CAT 980M and 980K, CAT 972M, CAT 246 skid steer
