Mission Systems Software Test Architect
About The Position
The Boeing Company is seeking a Mission Systems Software Test Architect to join the Air Dominance Software Team in Berkeley, Missouri. The role provides engineering leadership for software verification activities, directing the development of automated test products and toolsets for advanced avionics systems. The architect leads software test engineers working with developers, systems engineers, cross-functional stakeholders, and support teams to release production-ready software in a fast-paced Agile environment. The position focuses on improving test strategy, automation, and verification for mission-critical defense software, with responsibility for coordinating verification activities in line with program schedule and budget. The position is expected to be 100% onsite in Berkeley, MO. The selected candidate must hold an active U.S. Secret security clearance, be able to obtain access to Special Access Programs, and meet U.S. export control requirements as a U.S. Person. Candidates must also satisfy Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment process and complete a technical assessment during selection. The role is not contingent upon program award. Boeing will not sponsor employment visas. Relocation may be offered based on candidate eligibility.
Requirements
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance; a clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.
- Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience leading a software development project or team.
- At least 3 years of experience designing and leading automated test system development projects.
- At least 5 years of experience with full-life-cycle software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and/or analysis using one or more of C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, or Linux.
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying AI and machine-learning models.
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
- Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
- Must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.

- Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14 or more years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 18 or more years of directly related work experience; or 22 or more years of related, relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication, teaming, technical, and integration skills.
- Experience using AI/ML agents to automate software development and/or verification tasks.
- Experience developing real-time, embedded Mission Systems software on aircraft platforms.
- Experience with Open Mission Systems software architecture.
- Experience with computer vision techniques and tools.
- Experience with OpenAI and Google AI/ML agents.
- Experience with systems integration using systems engineering processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with safety-critical software development, verification, and airworthiness certification requirements such as MIL-HDBK-516C and DO-178C.
- Knowledge of software test framework, tool, and simulation implementation, including internal and external frameworks, architectures, industry best practices, and their application.
Responsibilities
- Lead the software team in integrating automated test frameworks and tools to create a multifaceted, unified automated test environment for advanced avionics software verification.
- Improve test development efficiency and effectiveness through the use of AI/ML agents.
- Ensure test products verify software functionality, performance, and safety, and identify and report defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities, including during formal qualification testing.
- Partner with stakeholders to develop a Mission Systems IPT Test Plan defining the stages, methods, criteria, and artifacts of automated software testing from development through Formal Qualification Testing.
- Coordinate with SMEs, TLEs, and Software Leadership to align test team efforts with program objectives and timely delivery of testing solutions.
- Work with software developers, systems engineers, cross-functional stakeholders, and support teams to release production-ready code.
