Mission Systems Software Test and Verification Software Lead
About The Position
The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Mission Systems Software Test and Verification Software Lead for the Air Dominance Software Team in Berkeley, Missouri. The role provides engineering leadership for software verification activities, including development of automated test products and toolsets for advanced avionics systems. The successful candidate works with program management to ensure verification activities are completed according to program schedule and budget. The lead supervises software test engineers who collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, cross-functional stakeholders, and support teams to deliver production-ready software. The role focuses on test strategy, automation, and verification for mission-critical defense software in a fast-paced Agile environment. The position is expected to be 100% onsite in Berkeley, MO. Applicants must have an active Secret U.S. security clearance and be able to obtain access to Special Access Programs. The position requires a U.S. Person for export control compliance. Candidates must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process and satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process. Boeing does not sponsor applicants for employment visa status. The position is not contingent upon program award and is not safety sensitive.
Requirements
- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance; a clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.
- Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience leading a software development project or team.
- At least 3 years of experience with the design and leadership of automated test system development projects.
- At least 5 years of experience with full life-cycle software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and/or analysis using C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and/or Linux.
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
- Must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.
- Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience; or 22+ years of related, relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication, teaming, technical, and integration skills.
- Experience developing real-time, embedded Mission Systems software on aircraft platforms.
- Experience with Open Mission Systems software architecture.
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering.
- Experience developing software on Linux platforms.
- Experience in systems integration with systems engineering processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with safety-critical software development, verification, and airworthiness certification requirements such as MIL-HDBK-516C and DO-178C.
- Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes, and understanding of relationships between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems.
Responsibilities
- Supervise execution of large-scale automated testing solutions for advanced Mission Systems software.
- Lead software verification engineers in designing, developing, and completing automated test and verification software products to ensure avionics software quality, reliability, and functionality.
- Ensure test products verify software functionality, performance, and safety, and identify and report defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities, including through formal qualification testing of all software.
- Partner with stakeholders on system definition and review the translation of system-level requirements into software requirements and verification models, ensuring customer, operational, and performance requirements are met and traceable to design, code, and test artifacts.
- Coordinate with SMEs, TLEs, and Software Leadership to align test team efforts with program objectives and ensure timely delivery of testing solutions.
- Work with program management to ensure verification activities are accomplished in accordance with program schedule and budget.
