About The Position

Millennium Space Systems, part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is a small satellite company focused on national security space missions, including missile warning and Earth observation. The Mission Operations Manager leads the Mission Operations team and reports to the Director of Mission Operations Engineering. The role serves as a point of contact for technical, budget, and resource-allocation issues, supporting team members, customer requirements, and company goals. It also contributes to mission success by leading architecture development, proposals, and execution across the program portfolio. The role’s responsibilities are divided among people leadership (25%), programmatic management (25%), and technical leadership (50%). The manager conducts hiring and performance processes, mentors and develops team members, represents the team and advocates for its resources, and supports an inclusive culture. The manager defines and allocates work across current and future programs, tracks progress, and evaluates performance. Technically, the manager collaborates with Ground Software, Systems Engineering, and Program Management to design, implement, and test ground segments; coordinates design reuse; improves workflows; and establishes and promotes best practices for ground architectures. The position requires at least five years of direct spacecraft mission operations and/or real-time satellite control experience, along with at least two years of formal leadership experience managing real-time operators, shift schedulers, and/or cross-functional mission teams. Candidates must also meet a leadership qualification and be able to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance. The role is based at a facility requiring special access, and U.S. citizenship is required for the stated clearance.
