About The Position

The Mission Critical Specialist coordinates and oversees domestic air and ground shipments and import and export shipments at the gateway. The role handles shipment and document preparation, bookings, customs-clearance coordination, and pickup and delivery. It is a remote position open to candidates in various locations, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM EST, supporting a 24/7/365 operation. The specialist owns shipments from booking through delivery, monitors milestones and critical connections, responds to disruptions, and keeps customers and internal stakeholders informed. The role also develops routing and pricing solutions, builds relationships with customers and logistics partners, and prepares operational reports. Purolator International describes its Total Rewards package as including health and insurance coverage, retirement contributions, paid leave, incentive compensation, tuition assistance, and wellness and discount programs.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of direct Mission Critical, air-express, same-day, freight-forwarding, or comparable high-urgency logistics experience involving real-time decisions and service recovery.
  • Direct experience executing import/export shipments, including documentation, routing, carrier coordination, point-to-point movement, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex routing and service failures, make rapid operational decisions under pressure, and escalate appropriately with limited oversight.
  • Strong customer service skills combined with direct operational ownership of shipments; customer-facing experience alone is insufficient without shipment execution experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple urgent shipments simultaneously in a time-critical environment where priorities change rapidly.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly, work with minimal supervision, and become independently productive within a short onboarding period.
  • Ability to own end-to-end shipment execution from booking through delivery while coordinating with internal teams, carriers, agents, and customers.
  • Ability to perform consistently amid immediate deadlines, shipment disruptions, escalations, and continuous real-time problem solving.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 3 years of position-related logistics experience.
