About The Position

McCombs School of Business is looking for a Course Assistant, an Undergraduate student employee, to provide support for IROM MIS 302f/301 course sections. The role involves providing grading and technical assistance to students in MIS 302f and 301 large lecture format courses, which are offered both in-person and online through synchronous ZOOM sessions as well as asynchronous sessions. The Course Assistant will be assigned to either MIS 302f or MIS 301, taught by Dr. Jason Rosenblum or Dr. Liz Moliski. The Course Assistant will assist with mediating course logistics, holding office hours, and providing grading support.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 12 credit hours
  • Must be proficient with Excel
  • Must be proficient with using Zoom (for online classes)
  • Must be proficient with Generative AI use
  • Must be able to work on a team
  • Must be able to accept instruction, direction, meet deadlines and maintain accountability
  • Must be interested in helping students and willing to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Former MIS 302f or MIS 301 students preferred
  • Data analysis expertise preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Prior experience with assisting course grading and technical tasks preferred

Responsibilities

  • Willing and able to work a dedicated and supervised 10 hrs / week
  • Support the course with logistic, grading and technical support needs
  • Provide zoom office hours and email support using a TA email link
  • Participate as part of an MIS 302f team and use Microsoft Teams for coordination/communication
  • Meet regularly (1x/week) to catch up with other course assistants and collaborate on course support work
  • Continue learning to support others with Excel and AI basics
