About The Position

The Ministry Leader program at Praying Pelican Missions (PPM) is designed to develop, equip, and support Christian leaders in ministry through genuine partnerships. Ministry Leaders serve as a bridge between local churches and mission teams, facilitating both the logistical and relational aspects of PPM short-term trips. The program includes comprehensive training through video conferences, digital modules, and on-the-field experience. This seasonal position, running from January 4th to August 13th, 2027, involves supporting assigned locations with trip setup, team consulting, and trip leading.

Requirements

  • A devoted Christ-follower actively engaged in your local church.
  • Alignment with PPM’s Statement of Faith.
  • Character traits: humble, dependable, willing to do any task, adaptable, problem-solver, excited about close community living and working, committed to servant leadership.
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably in missions or a previous PPM leadership mission setting.
  • Must be 18 or older, with a strong preference for applicants 21 or older.
  • Availability: 10 hours/week from Jan–May, followed by a flexible summer schedule leading 6 to 10 weeks of trips from late May–Aug.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be prepared to safely transport others.
  • Attendance at Program Orientation via video conference the week of January 4th, 2027.
  • Attend weekly training sessions as assigned by the program manager via video conference.
  • Commit to completing Pelican University online training by the assigned deadline.
  • Attend an on-site training trip in the assigned location between January and April.
  • In-person attendance at the PPM Spring Conference in Black Mountain, North Carolina, from April 23-25, 2027 is required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive image of PPM, build trust across staff, and maintain healthy, God-honoring team relationships.
  • Commit 10 hours weekly from January through May to leadership development, trip setup, and group consulting. Assist group leaders with spiritual and logistical preparation, ensuring all capstone calls and pre-trip requirements are completed.
  • Partner with the location leader to source ministry opportunities and finalize team itineraries. Lead daily operations on the ground, managing schedules, logistics, and supplies, and serving alongside teams in community outreach and service projects.
  • Support Location Leadership in executing team delegations by attending L10 location meetings or reporting directly to the Operations Leader.
  • Complete at least one PPM training mission trip in the assigned location between January and April, coordinated by the Location Manager, to familiarize with logistics, host partners, and ministry operations. This must be completed by late April unless an exception is approved.
  • Complete all required preparations to serve as an effective Trip Leader during the summer season, leading 8-10 mission trips based on scheduling needs.
  • Complete program wrap-up requirements, including expense reports, trip leader surveys, an exit interview with the program manager, return of PPM equipment, and fulfillment of all scheduled trip assignments.
