About The Position

Texas Baptists is a convention of over 5,300 Baptist churches. Active membership at a church supportive of Texas Baptists is a condition of employment. This role provides administrative support to the Church Strong Team Director and GC2 Navigators.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field or equivalent acquired knowledge.
  • Two years or more of proven, applicable experience.
  • Active membership in a church supportive of the BGCT during employment.
  • Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to traditional Baptist distinctives.
  • Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in various settings.
  • Proficient ability to plan, administer, and reporting budgets.
  • Ability to provide strategic and logistical planning and facilitate meetings, conferences, workshops, and retreats.
  • Excellent listening skills, interpersonal skills, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight and/or weekend stays.
  • Proficient client management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide range of information.
  • Proficient ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to speak clearly and make yourself understood in face-to-face interactions, and articulate with accuracy on the telephone.
  • Ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, answer phones, and proficiently communicate in situations with some background noise.
  • Ability to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 45-60 minutes at a time continuously.
  • Ability to understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts; ability to remember verbal and written tasks/assignments.

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.

  • Experience with Salesforce or another Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for the Church Strong Team Director, including overseeing scheduling, organizing workflow, processing financial documents (check requisitions, invoices, credit card bills, travel expenses), helping organize priorities and deadlines, anticipating administrative needs, supporting the GC2 Strong process, and assisting churches with resources, timelines, and scheduling.
  • Provide administrative support for the GC2 Navigators, including ordering and distributing GC2 assessments, coordinating assessments, resources, communications, and follow-up, maintaining organized records of church progress, reviewing expenditure and budget reports, and processing expense reports or payments.
  • Complete tasks related to the overall operations of the Church Strong Team as assigned by the Church Strong Team Administrator.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable contact regarding the Church Strong Team’s purpose, goals, functions, and resources.
  • Prepare and proofread letters, memos, spreadsheets, and other correspondence accurately and timely.
  • Attend meetings and participate in training as required.
  • Maintain compliance with the Baptist General Convention of Texas policies and procedures, and all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.
