About The Position

Ziegler CAT is hiring a Mining Technician to diagnose and repair Caterpillar and other heavy construction and mining equipment at its Ziegler Buhl location. Equipment includes off-highway trucks, large excavators and shovels, large wheel loaders, and dozers. The role works Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and involves documenting work orders, following safety procedures, collaborating with other technicians, and participating in ongoing training. Working conditions may be indoors or outdoors, and noise may be loud at times. This role is safety sensitive and requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

A 1- or 2-year technical college diploma or degree in diesel technology or a related field; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience.
Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers, and team members.
Basic computer skills to document work orders and use online diagnostic systems.
Own mechanic tool set.
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
Ability to meet the listed physical requirements, including pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs, lifting or carrying up to 60 lbs, and performing the described movements and tasks.

Nice To Haves

2 or more years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience.
Experience working on Caterpillar equipment.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment, including off-highway trucks, large excavators and shovels, large wheel loaders, dozers, and other large construction equipment supporting mining operations.
Document work orders completely and in a timely manner to support customer satisfaction.
Work safely and follow company policies, procedures, and standards.
Collaborate with and assist other technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and product knowledge.
