The Mining Onboard Specialist is an on-site technical expert at a mine site in Northern Nevada, supporting Cat MineStar Command for hauling. The role focuses on technical support, system optimization, integration, troubleshooting, and collaboration to help autonomous haulage hardware and systems perform effectively. The specialist works with dealer personnel, customer teams, and Caterpillar engineering and product support. The role is field-based and hands-on in its technical engagement, but primarily guides, troubleshoots, and partners with others rather than performing physical maintenance. The position supports the health and availability of onboard hardware for MineStar/Command for hauling-equipped fleets and helps ensure onboard components, networks, and machine control systems work together. It also contributes to root-cause problem solving, performance improvements, clear reporting and escalation of system status and critical failures, and coaching customer personnel and internal teammates. The position is based at a mine site in Northern Nevada and generally follows a 7-days-on, 7-days-off day-shift rotation. The selected candidate drives to the site, approximately two hours from Reno, and stays in customer-provided accommodations during scheduled shifts, then returns home for scheduled days off. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Structured onboarding and product training are provided, potentially including classroom learning, on-the-job development, and mentoring.
