About The Position

Lindahl Reed is seeking motivated individuals with technical experience in mining, mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, or related engineering disciplines to support the Department of Energy's Advanced Mining, Minerals, and Materials Production Technologies (AMMPT) initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting applied research and development programs, technical analysis, and project management activities related to critical minerals and materials technologies. This position is well suited for mid-level professionals who enjoy working at the intersection of technology, government, industry, and research organizations. Candidates should possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and be capable of supporting multiple technical projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mining, geological, metallurgical, chemical, materials, mechanical, environmental engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years professional experience supporting mining, mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, critical minerals, or related technology programs.
  • Experience supporting technical research, engineering projects, or federally funded RD&D initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple technical projects and tracking schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize technical information into concise written products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Project or comparable project management software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical review and analysis of research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RD&D) projects related to mining and mineral processing technologies.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, deliverables, budgets, and technical performance to ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Track project progress and identify schedule, technical, or programmatic risks while supporting development of mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with portfolio management activities, including project status reporting, performance metric tracking, and data collection.
  • Coordinate with principal investigators, national laboratories, industry partners, universities, and DOE program managers to facilitate project execution.
  • Prepare technical summaries, briefing materials, presentations, white papers, and program reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analyze technical data, project documentation, and research findings to support funding decisions and program planning.
  • Support organization and facilitation of technical meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Assist in evaluating project outcomes against established performance metrics and program milestones.
  • Maintain project documentation, action item tracking, meeting notes, and other program management records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes, reporting tools, and portfolio tracking systems.
