About The Position

Argus Media Consulting Services is the advisory division of Argus Media, a leading independent energy price reporting and market intelligence organization. They offer clients bespoke analysis, research, data, and insights across international energy markets, with a focus on market structure, logistics, and economics. Leveraging Argus Media's extensive industry knowledge, global networks, and proprietary databases, Consulting Services delivers practical, high-impact insights. Their client base is diverse, including governments, national oil and energy companies, multinational corporations, financial institutions, energy traders, and upstream and independent organizations. The team operates in two core areas: Projects, which handles bespoke commissioned assignments, and Subscriptions, which produces outlooks, analytical reports, and market forecasts. Due to continued growth, Argus is seeking passionate, driven, and energetic analysts to join their business. Critical minerals are a key market for Argus, and this role will contribute to expanding Argus' coverage and analysis of this strategic commodity sector. The business already includes the first price assessments in North America for critical minerals and has been instrumental in developing several capital projects in the Americas. This role will collaborate with global experts to deepen the analysis of critical mineral markets and assets, with a specific focus on the Americas. The ideal candidate will be an excellent analyst, thrive in a fast-paced environment, be process-oriented, and possess a keen eye for detail. The role involves providing clients with in-depth analysis, insight, and perspective, contributing to outlooks and analytics, and supporting consulting projects. A key aspect of the role will be building the business through the development of propositions, products, and services. The Houston team consists of approximately 20 individuals, comprising industry experts and recent graduates from diverse international backgrounds. Individuals with a 'can-do' attitude and a willingness to contribute to all aspects of business building will be successful.

Requirements

  • Graduate / Master’s degree from a top tier university
  • Highly numerate with experience analyzing data quickly and meticulously with excellent attention to detail and accuracy focus
  • Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets
  • Flexible in approach, highly motivated and willing to contribute to the growth of Argus’ Consulting Services.
  • Interest in (though not necessarily with professional experience) the energy and commodities markets

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain models to support the forecasting of supply, demand, capacity, imports and exports, price, production costs and margin for critical minerals
  • Provide detailed analysis and commentary on commodity markets, for Consulting projects and subscription reports
  • Lead components of delivery, under guidance from managers, providing input to the client projects and subscription analysis reports produced by Argus Media Analytics
  • Liaise with wider Argus staff to ensure current knowledge of Argus products and maintain current knowledge of major drivers and trends across commodity markets
  • Work with experts and analysts across our global offices to extract maximum value out of data collected and to deliver integrated analysis
  • Identify new sources of data to capture within the Argus fundamentals databases
  • Support the development and commercialization of new data-driven products
  • Identify new areas of commodity market analysis
  • Play a role in development of the consulting practice
