3+ years of experience in the operation of heavy mining equipment
Must have a valid UT driver’s license or the ability to get one.
Good written and verbal communication skills; legible handwriting
Ability to utilize independent judgment, assess situations, make decisions, and safely perform the essential functions of the job
Ability to work well alone and with others in a team oriented environment; must have the ability to interface effectively with others so that information is professionally communicated
Promote, support and ensure self-compliance with safety rules
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, climb on and off equipment, work at elevated heights and in cramped quarters, and walk over rough terrain; frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling
Must be able to work safely in extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet, dusty, noisy) inside and outside and in confined work spaces
Must be willing to work overtime, and 12-hour rotating shift work, to meet operational goals
Proven record of prompt and regular attendance, dependability and safe work performance
Nice To Haves
MSHA certification is desirable.
Basic mechanical knowledge is desirable.
Experience handling explosives is desirable.
Responsibilities
Proper and safe operation of heavy equipment in a mining situation: 1800 Hitachi hydraulic shovel, D-11 dozers, 100 ton haul trucks, Cat 993 loaders, 16H motor grader, water truck, large rotary blasthole drill, and other equipment necessary to the mining operation
Equipment inspection; Record keeping and reporting
Housekeeping duties (work areas as assigned)
Prompt and regular attendance and safe work performance required
Understand and comply with all company policies, procedures, governmental regulations, SOP’s
