About The Position

This position offers a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their leadership ability and engineering expertise in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation. Reporting to the Quarry Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects in an open pit gypsum quarry, assisting with the execution of the mine’s safety program, and coordinating capital improvements. As a member of the plant leadership team, the Mine Engineer has responsibility for employee engagement, safety, quality and efficiency within the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and issue resolution skills
  • Must be a people and results-oriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment
  • Must have a high level of organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mine experience or project work experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing/Mine environment
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge or experience

Responsibilities

  • Leading projects in an open pit gypsum quarry
  • Assisting with the execution of the mine’s safety program
  • Coordinating capital improvements
  • Responsibility for employee engagement, safety, quality and efficiency within the facility
  • Assist in design and planning of mine maintenance projects so that the mine remains in good operating order, consistent with standards and with a minimum of mechanical/electrical downtime
  • Consult with department manager, maintenance, and production personnel to identify problems and provide assistance in mining method and equipment improvements
  • Use initiative and judgment in analyzing problems, determine critical factors for investigation and provide expert advice on mining methods
  • Review and provide design improvements to ground control, mine dewatering, communications equipment and mine design
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of all non-routine maintenance and capital improvement plans for the mine
