About The Position

The Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for leading mine planning, design, and optimization activities to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. This role plays a key part in short- and long-term planning, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring alignment between operational execution and strategic mine objectives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in Nevada preferred
Minimum 10 years of mining experience, with strong exposure to planning and operations
Experience in open pit, underground, or both (depending on operation)
Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight, Surpac)
Strong understanding of drill & blast, geotechnical considerations, and mine economics
Knowledge of U.S. mining regulations (MSHA standards)
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Leadership and mentoring skills
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration
Ability to work in a fast-paced, remote site environment
High attention to detail with a focus on safety and efficiency
Strategic thinking with hands-on operational awareness

Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of short-term, mid-term, and long-term mine plans
Design and optimize open pit and/or underground mine layouts, including haul roads, ramps, stopes, and sequencing
Ensure all mine plans comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelines
Collaborate closely with geology, operations, processing, and maintenance teams to align plans with production targets
Monitor mine performance and reconcile actual results against plan; identify variances and implement improvements
Conduct economic evaluations, cost analysis, and productivity assessments
Oversee drill & blast designs and provide technical guidance to operations teams
Mentor and supervise junior mine engineers and technical staff
Support budgeting, forecasting, and life-of-mine planning activities
Implement and maintain mine planning software and systems
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs
