For over 40 years, the YMCA of Southern Interior BC has been providing free and low-cost wellness services to children, youth, and equity-seeking groups, providing responsive community programs and supports to help individuals tap into their full potential. Since 2018, the YMCA has been delivering evidence-based and high-quality mindfulness programming to youth and young adults who face barriers to positive mental wellbeing, known as Y Mind. The goal of Y Mind is to enhance the quality of life through therapeutic group-based learning, helping youth acquire strategies for independence, purpose, and positive mental health outcomes. Reporting to the Manager of Community & Wellness Services, the Mindfulness Program Facilitator will work collaboratively with other staff, volunteers, and participants in the delivery of our mental wellness curricula, including Y Mind and Teen Mindfulness. The Mindfulness Program Facilitator is responsible for screening new participants at information sessions and for delivering the mental wellness program(s) curriculum over 7 weeks within Kelowna and/or surrounding communities. Furthermore, the Mindfulness Program Facilitator is responsible for creating a safe and inclusive space for all within groups and is encouraged to identify areas of growth and development for future mental wellness programs.
