Requirements

  • Must be able to swim and pass a swim test.
  • Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities including water-based games and activities.
  • Able to maintain attention and high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to spend majority the of time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to facilitate the Elk Hill Challenge Course which includes but is not limited to balance elements, high elements, and a zip line.
  • Must be capable of regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to perform behavior management techniques.
  • Must be able to walk or hike for long distances, including but not limited to walking and hiking on uneven terrain and with elevation changes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a professional staff member providing supervision of clients and outdoor activities.
  • Ability to assist the Prevention and Outdoor Programs Director and/or Program Director with supervising clients participating in the outdoor program to ensure safety and objectives are reached
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the client’s family, as well as other community agencies and all other persons involved in the delivery of services.
  • Co-facilitate and assist in maintaining standards that lead to a quality program
  • Facilitate and organize activities at the appropriate level for the group or the individual, as assigned
  • Transportation of clients to and from programs and on field trips, as a driver or rider, as assigned
  • Work cooperatively with all Elk Hill staff to improve the quality of the whole organization
  • Model appropriate attire for the outdoors, preparation for inclement weather and model positive attitude for clients
  • Maintain CPR/FA and MANDT certifications
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of building, supplies and vehicles
  • Complete additional responsibilities, as assigned, by Prevention and Outdoor Programs Director or Program Director
