About The Position

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a mechanical millwright in the Wood Products or a related industry. The role involves repairing, replacing, and maintaining various equipment parts, including mobile equipment, chains, sprockets, bearings, belts, gearboxes, and motors. Responsibilities also include metal fabrication, welding, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, aligning and calibrating equipment, and performing preventive maintenance. The millwright will be expected to work safely, provide quality workmanship, assign and confirm work completion, and direct contractors. Additionally, issuing hot work permits and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment are key aspects of the role. General safety knowledge, including PPE, lockout/tag out, and fall protection, is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright
  • Attend West Fraser Qualified Millwright Training
  • Complete competency checklist per level
  • Score a 21 on the Mechanical Reasoning assessment
  • Score Level 1 on the Millwright assessment
  • Have own tools.
  • General mechanical working knowledge
  • Hand Power Tools; drill, sander, grinder, band saw, etc.
  • General safety knowledge: Personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Lockout and Tag out.
  • Fall Protection

Responsibilities

  • Repair/replace/maintain all mobile equipment parts as well as chains, sprockets, bearings, belts, gearbox, motors, etc.
  • Metal fabrication
  • Welding; arc, acetylene, and others.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment
  • Align and calibrate equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Construction/structural assembly.
  • Measurements reading English/Metric; tape, caliper, ruler and other.
  • Working safely
  • Provide quality workmanship.
  • Assign work and confirm completion.
  • Direct and ensure quality work from contractors.
  • Issuing hot work permits to meet AON guidelines.
  • Maintain working area clean, shop, field area, vehicle and other.
  • Keep working equipment/shop tools orderly.
