About The Position

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright. The role involves general mechanical working knowledge, including repairing, replacing, and maintaining various equipment parts, metal fabrication, welding, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, aligning and calibrating equipment, and performing preventive maintenance. The millwright will also be responsible for using hand and power tools, construction/structural assembly, and accurate measurements. Safety is paramount, requiring accountability for working safely, providing quality workmanship, assigning and confirming work completion, directing contractor quality, and issuing hot work permits. General safety knowledge includes personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout and tag out procedures, and fall protection. Housekeeping duties involve maintaining a clean working area, shop, field area, and vehicle, and keeping equipment and tools orderly. Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright
  • Attend West Fraser Qualified Millwright Training
  • Complete competency checklist per level
  • Score a 21 on the Mechanical Reasoning assessment
  • Score Level 1 on the Millwright assessment
  • Have own tools.

Responsibilities

  • Repair/replace/maintain all mobile equipment parts as well as chains, sprockets, bearings, belts, gearbox, motors, etc.
  • Metal fabrication
  • Welding; arc, acetylene, and others.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment
  • Align and calibrate equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Use Hand Power Tools; drill, sander, grinder, band saw, etc.
  • Construction/structural assembly.
  • Take measurements reading English/Metric; tape, caliper, ruler and other.
  • Work safely
  • Provide quality workmanship.
  • Assign work and confirm completion.
  • Direct and ensure quality work from contractors.
  • Issue hot work permits to meet AON guidelines.
  • Maintain working area clean, shop, field area, vehicle and other.
  • Keep working equipment/shop tools orderly.
