The Millwright builds or assembles, repairs, and maintains machinery and equipment in factories, plants, or construction sites. The role includes working with steel or iron structural pieces and components, cutting and fabricating metal to project specifications, and setting up, assembling, or disassembling job-specific machinery and equipment. Millwrights select appropriate gear and equipment based on load size, weight, dimensions, and the work area to safely install, relocate, disassemble, or transport machinery and materials. The work may involve driving commercial vehicles, welding or fabrication, maintenance, warehouse assistance, or other assigned tasks when not performing millwright duties. This is physical, hands-on work involving machinery alignment, installation, maintenance, rigging, and fabrication. Millwrights use hand, power, and measuring tools; hoists and lifting equipment; and verbal or hand signals to communicate with coworkers and equipment operators. They may work at varying heights, around moving machinery, outdoors, and in non-temperature-controlled environments.
