About The Position

This position is for a Millwright Mechanic in the Maintenance Indirect - Millwright/Mech department. The role involves essential functions such as reading detailed drawings and specifications, disassembling and assembling equipment for repairs, installing plumbing for various systems, performing preventive maintenance, and fabricating/altering equipment parts using machine and hand tools. The role also includes welding, brazing, machining, and equipment installation/relocation. Secondary functions involve emergency response, specifically repairing malfunctions to the coinage chlorine system, which may include assessing, stopping, and repairing minor chlorine leaks. Employees will be fit-tested for respiratory protection equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Three to five years’ experience in the industrial maintenance areas of hydraulics, pneumatics, millwright principles, pipe fitting and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/programs, schematics, prints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use a systematic approach in troubleshooting and solving problems.
  • Successfully fit tested in the use of company supplied respiratory protection equipment unless medically disqualified by the company physician.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and assemble all types of equipment and machinery for repairs using hand tools, tradesman's tools, and welding equipment.
  • Install plumbing for gas, water, steam, and hydraulic lines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment and fill out required forms and reports.
  • Operate machine and hand tools to grind, shape, fabricate, and alter equipment parts.
  • Weld, braze, and machine parts, metals, and equipment.
  • Install and relocate equipment as required.
  • Perform other associated duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Repair malfunctions to the coinage chlorine system as an Emergency Responder.
  • Assess, stop, and repair minor chlorine leaks.
  • Complete all emergency response tasks as directed by Department Supervision or the Emergency Coordinator within the scope of training.
  • Be fit tested in the use of company supplied respiratory protection equipment unless medically disqualified.
